At First West of England we have been coping for more than a year with a very serious shortage of drivers in Bristol and Bath as we have expanded our operations to meet increased demand and dealt with the effects of congestion on our operation. At times, our driver shortage has reached 15% of our total, a staggering 150 vacancies!
As a result we have need a lot of support to keep our services running. We turned to Meridian for assistance,
Meridian have provided a remarkable level of service and support to our business, not only sourcing large numbers of competent drivers but also managing them with their own supervision embedded in our operation as well as dealing with the need for accommodation on an industrial scale where required. I have been particularly impressed by the level of attention to detail and also the care taken to provide good quality, well-managed accommodation for staff.
Similarly, we have a good level of understanding at management level between us and Meridian which allows a very quick reaction if anything goes wrong. Inevitably, some agency staff will have difficulties and it is our experience that Meridian deal quickly and decisively where, for example, it is clear that an individual needs to be lifted out of the business.
All in all, by using Meridian’s services we have succeeded in keeping the wheels rolling in Bristol and Bath with minimum fuss. I am grateful to Paul Watson and his staff for their personal and round-the-clock attention to our contract, giving is maximum flexibility in sometimes trying circumstances.
